Holiday house in a quiet and peaceful position in an area of outstanding natural beauty

The house is located on a private road, 2.5 km from the public road in the beautiful valley of Kinsedalen. For those who like to get away from it all it is idyllic, the sounds of waterfalls and birdsong being most prevalent. Situated 400 metres above sea level it is only 2 km from a branch of the Sognefjord, the longest fjord in Norway, and about 190 km from its mouth. Ideal for walkers, fishermen, artists, those with a love of nature, and those who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The whole area is wild, unspoilt nature. It is perfect for star gazers since there is no light pollution. The house is situated in a valley that is home to a small population, that has its own micro-climate, surprising visitors with its warmth in the summer months.

It is an historical area known for aluminium mining in the second world war, and for those with an interest and a readiness for exploration you will be able to find many hidden structures further down towards the fjord relating to that period. The remains of the largest quay on the Sognefjord is still to be seen.

Accommodation is all on the ground floor.

The ground floor comprises hall/entrance area, kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is electric heating throughout, with a log burner also in the living room. The bathroom has underfloor heating. Fully fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, filter coffee machine, fridge-freezer.
Living room is in the retro style, with a sofa bed suitable for two persons and TV/DVD player.
The bedroom has a double bed 2m in width and a single camp bed.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet and vanity unit.

The property is detached with its own garden. There is a parking space on the slope leading down to the property and further safe parking is available in a communal car park 100 metres back down the road.
Please note that the road is not suitable for large vehicles such as camper vans.

There is an area with garden furniture and parasol, as well as barbecue/grill. Part of the garden is fenced but small children would need to be supervised. Views from the garden towards the mountains and the fjord.

Please note that there is no mobile phone signal at the property. A signal can be found approximately 1km back down the road from the house towards the fjord. The property is situated on a hillside which may be problematic for people who are not fully mobile.
The property shares a natural water supply with one neighbour, and has its own septic tank. Nappies, wipes and sanitary products must not be disposed of down the toilet.
There is a refuse and a recycling bin at the property. The council refuse and recycling bins are at the bottom of the private road where it joins the kommune road. All refuse and recycling must be taken from the property to the kommune bins at the end of the holiday.
There is an emergency food store kept in the kitchen, to be replenished if used.

Although quite remotely situated, the property is within 5 km of the ferry terminal at Urnes(Ornes) which travels regularly throughout the day between Urnes(Ornes) and Solvorn. At Urnes(Ornes) you will find the special stave church, famous for its carvings as well as for its picture-postcard setting. This is an area renowned for its fruit growing. There is also a café there in the summer months, as well as a red deer farm, and it is the base for many walks in the area and mountainous hikes. The fjord is 2 km away where you can swim if you are adventurous, and the nearest small sandy beach is at Solvorn a 15 minute ferry ride away. It is in Solvorn that you will find the nearest supermarket.
Freshwater fishing and boat rental is 15 km away in Hafslo.
Private salmon fishing can be arranged at the famous lodge at Aroy, which is a favourite with the royal family, 16 km away between Hafslo and Sogndal.
26 km away is the shopping and commercial centre of Sogndal, where you will find shops and restaurants, as well as a cinema and other activities. From there you can also access express boats to Bergen and many other areas of the Sognefjord.
For those who like indoor swimming there is a newly built pool at Gaupne (29 km ), as well as one in Skjolden (34 km), and Vesterland Ferie Park is open to non-residents (32 km).
The nearest regional airport is approximately 42 km away at Haukasen, between Sogndal and Kaupanger.
The Sogn Folk Museum is be found also on the same Road 5 travelling from Sogndal on the way to Kaupanger..
Travelling 30 km you are in the famous Jotunheimen National Park.
Within a circle of 30 km you have mountains, fjords, glaciers, museums, galleries and culture.
Within a circle of 65 km you can reach 2 glaciers and their museums at Nigardsbreen and Fjaerland, as well as access organised trips to the ice, with more advanced trips available for those who wish to ski and camp in the mountains.
Alternatively stay put at the property and enjoy a situation that is perfect for peace and painting. You can also walk straight from the house up towards the mountains, lakes and wilderness or down towards the fjord for exploration. A special walking tour illustrated in the Sogn Opptur guide starts from the parking area by the house and passes up by the house. You can walk up to the wilderness to where the reindeer roam.
Combined with friendly locals you have a recipe for perfection.

    „Schönes Haus, etwas verloren in der Natur unweit von Urnes. Sehr schöne Aussicht, gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber, alles, was man zum Kochen braucht, und voller kleiner, freundlicher Aufmerksamkeit von Sarah, der Besitzerin!
    Nichts zu sagen, wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt. Sarah war der ideale Ort, um ihre Zeit zu genießen. Sie hatte uns sogar Papier, kleine Gemälde und Wasserfarben hinterlassen, um die Landschaft zu verewigen!“
