The view and large balcony. This is what attracted us to the apartment.
When we were about two hours away we phoned to say what time we expected to arrive, (this was about 13.30). We were informed that they had sent an email !! - apparently whilst we were driving in France?? - to say the keys are in their letterbox (code given). Having sorted this out over the phone we arrived to find the office closed. Is it not polite in this industry for someone to meet you, we are all strangers to new places? After finding the building we first wanted to find the apartment. Entering the foyer - there were no lift or stairs, only a door to the musty smelling, (presumed) cellars. Here are located the stairs and a lift right at the very end of a corridor. It took us 20 minutes to find the apartment such is the un-logical layout of the building and entrances. Then we found out in the envelope was a printout as to where the apartment is located in the complex, not mentioned in the email or by phone. It could have been made much easier and a nicer welcome had someone met us even in the office to explain such things. Maybe our mistake but we all get tired after travelling and can overlook such things but this 'welcome' was not what we expected.
Then we discovered no bedding, which we said we wanted. The dish washer was still full. The washing machine was still on. The tablecloth was dirty from the last meal as were tea towels. Some plates in the cupboard were dirty one still had the best part of the last meal stuck to it? also a saucepan and some cooking spoons were dirty. Dont get me wrong we are tolerant but this was over the top. It said that any damage was to be paid for - that's fair enough but who would believe you when no one comes with you and then you find some chipped plates cracked wine glass and even one dining room chairs cushion with a big split. I will say after phoning that someone did come to see us with fresh bedding and was helpful - only to discover later, that one sheet had faint old mouldy spots. We also bought cushions for the balcony chairs as we were informed there aren't any, only to discover some in the cupboard. The chipped and dirty plates, cracked glass tablecloth etc were all shown to the person who came to meet us with fresh bedding. (The chair was discovered later and mentioned to them - which they knew but they would not say it but could then blame us. It gives that feel of uncertainty) I had had enough of complaining and made my bed and slept in it with the mouldy spots. (Photo's taken should someone blame us!!!!) Normally I dont complain and just get on with it, but this was just too much for us. Nice apartment ruined by the management.
Nice location plenty of places to visit from Le Lavandou
